Tottenham Hotspur fans are gutted that Oliver Skipp won’t be around to face Leeds United when they return from the international break.
Missing Skipp
Tottenham are due to face off against Leeds in two Sunday’s time, but they will have to do so without Skipp.
The young midfielder picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Everton last weekend, which means that he will be given a one-match ban.
That could be a blow for Spurs as Skipp appears to be one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment.
The 20-year-old has returned from a loan spell with Norwich City and forced his way right into Tottenham’s team.
Indeed, just yesterday Football London reported that Antonio Conte had already been left very impressed by Skipp.
And the reaction from Spurs fans to his absence shows his growing importance to the North London side.
A big blow?
Skipp’s energy and tenacity could have been really useful for Tottenham against Leeds.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side always commit huge amount of numbers forward, and Skipp’s defensive instincts could have helped Spurs combat their threat.
His absence may force Conte into making an attacking change though.
Spurs have struggled to create chances and the addition of Tanguy Ndombele or Giovani Lo Celso could help Spurs be more progressive in possession.
Conte could also turn to Harry Winks if he wants to play a more like for like replacement with Skipp.
Winks appears to be playing for his future at Tottenham and will need to produce a strong performance if he is selected to play against Leeds.
