‘Conte going to make him world class’: Some Spurs fans laud ‘unreal’ player v Everton

Tottenham Hotspur fans lauded Oliver Skipp’s display during their goalless draw against Everton on Sunday.

In what was Antonio Conte’s first Premier League game in charge of the North London club, Spurs recorded a goalless draw against the Toffees.

It wasn’t an action-packed game, in terms of chances created, but the Spurs faithful were impressed by Skipp’s display in the middle of the park.

Conte decided to play the hard-hitting midfielder alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a two-man midfield.

Skipp played the entire 90 minutes at Goodison Park, which is perhaps a sign that he is going to play a vital and regular role in that key midfield place going forward.

Whilst Conte can play a more attack-minded player in that position, the question has to be asked whether he trusts a player of that ilk, at this moment in time, to step up.

Either way, Spurs fans think that their academy prospect has a great future under Conte and they can see him thriving in months and years to come.

In truth, he is a Conte-like player, and after his loan spell at Norwich in the Championship last season, this is perhaps the time for his career to take that next step.

The only negative regarding Skipp today was his booking which now means that he will miss Tottenham’s next game, after the international break, against Leeds.
