Sevilla are signing Alex Telles from Manchester United in a move that could dent Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon.

United have signed a new left back of their own with Tyrell Malacia arriving from Feyenoord.

Erik ten Hag knows Malacia from Dutch football and he will now be expected to challenge Luke Shaw moving forward.

That left Telles down at third-choice and pretty much out of the picture, so United are letting him leave the club.

Sevilla are signing Alex Telles

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Telles is now joining Spanish side Sevilla on loan for the 2022-23 season.

Romano claims a full agreement is in place and Sevilla won’t have an option to buy Telles as part of the deal.

Telles is tied to United until at least 2024, so the Brazilian will likely be up for sale next summer.

Sevilla have pounced for the former Porto star as they needed to bring in a new left back.

Ludwig Augustinsson has left Sevilla for Aston Villa and Telles will now come in as competition for Marcos Acuna.

Sevilla signing Telles solves their left back issue – and that may just close off one route out of Tottenham for Reguilon.

Reports from Estadio Deportivo in Spain suggested that Reguilon was Sevilla’s top choice to replace Augustinsson and they were hoping to thrash out a deal with Tottenham.

Reguilon excelled on loan at Sevilla in the 2019-20 season, helping them win the Europa League before Real Madrid sold him to Tottenham.

90Min added that Sevilla were Reguilon’s preferred choice if he was to leave Tottenham, having been axed by Antonio Conte this summer.

Unfortunately for Reguilon, that deal surely won’t be happening now with Telles on his way to Andalusia.

That has to hurt Reguilon, who won’t join the club he wanted and won’t play first-team football at Tottenham either.

Reguilon now has to hope that another team come in for him this summer, otherwise he risks being sat in the stands at Spurs.
