West Ham United are looking to reshape their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

This is a new chapter for the Hammers because Julen Lopetegui has now been tasked to take the club forward.

David Moyes left West Ham as a legend because he won the Europa Conference League, but his last two Premier League campaigns were poor.

From a 14th-placed finish to finishing ninth last term, it wasn’t great and what didn’t help matters was the style of play.

It’s all good playing defensive-minded football, but West Ham have to back it up by being strong at the back, which they simply weren’t.

Under Moyes, they conceded 74 goals – only relegated trio Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United – shipped more.

That’s why West Ham completed the signing of Max Kilman from Wolves, with Scott Minto calling him a ‘really good’ player, as he told talkSPORT (21/07/24 at 4:20 pm).

But who will partner Kilman at the heart of the defence because the Irons are looking for quality?

The name of ex-Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori was mentioned, with Minto excited by the possibility of the AC Milan star playing alongside Kilman.

“Max Kilman is a player I like, he has gone to one of my former clubs, West Ham,” said Minto. “I think he will be really good.

“There has been talk about Fikayo Tomori, perhaps, being linked there. If they got those two playing together, and a centre-forward, then, for me, West Ham would be very, very good going forward.”

Fikayo Tomori would be a smart buy

The 26-year-old, who has a Serie A title to his name, seems to have become a forgotten man in England.

But this would be a smart buy from the Hammers, if they can push it through, with Frank Lampard previously labelling Tomori as an ‘outstanding’ player (Metro).

Sources have told HITC that West Ham want to sign Tomori. They are joined by Newcastle, with Malick Thiaw also mentioned.

Noussair Mazraoui has also been offered to West Ham, according to sources, with the all-action right-back joining Bayern Munich in 2022.
