Liverpool fans are still waiting for their club to make their mark in the 2024 summer transfer window.
This is a new dawn for the Premier League giants because Jurgen Klopp is out of the door and Arne Slot is in the building.
What doesn’t help matters for Liverpool is that there is probably more noise around the future of their players rather than incomings.
Neil Ruddock was recently shocked at the transfer rumour around Trent Alexander-Arnold – he has 12 months left on his contract.
The 25-year-old played a bit-part role for his country at Euro 2024 as England reached the final and were beaten by Spain in the final.
Therefore, he will be returning to pre-season late, as Richard Keys slammed the treatment of Alexander-Arnold at Euro 2024.
But could the Anfield academy product now get some much-needed competition ahead of the new Premier League season?
Sources have told HITC that Manchester City are battling Barcelona for Joshua Kimmich, with Liverpool also getting a mention.
Scott Minto feels if the Reds can get the 8x Bundesliga title winner through the doors, then he would ‘add’ to Slot’s squad, as he told talkSPORT (21/07/24 at 4:35 pm).
Liverpool backed to sign Joshua Kimmich
“Joshua Kimmich, he impressed,” said Darren Ambrose. “Back end of his 20s. He is 29. It looks like Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, among other teams, are linked to Joshua Kimmich. Reports suggest maybe around £40 million.”
Minto added: “He is a good player. A centre midfield player as well as a right-back. He would definitely add to anybody’s team.
“For Liverpool, what do you do with Trent then? You have got a right-back there who could play in midfield. It’s the same sort of principle. There is no doubt about it, he would add to it.”

Joshua Kimmich would be brilliant for Arne Slot
A player of Kimmich’s experience and trophy-winning career would be perfect for Liverpool and their new manager.
That backline needs refreshing. The same old faces are still competing for the same spots and that isn’t healthy for the team.

This is the problem from the powers that be at Liverpool because they haven’t pro-active in the window, with very little movement in the market, so far.
If this continues, then you can bet your bottom dollar that the Liverpool supporters will get pretty restless.
