Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s Wrexham are gearing up for another season in England’s second division, the Championship.
The Red Dragons enjoyed a historic 2025/26 campaign, securing their highest-ever league finish as a club.
Wrexham ended the season in seventh place, which was impressive after only just winning promotion, but they just missed out on a play-off space (third to sixth).
Now, the English transfer window is open, and more changes are expected at the Racecourse Ground, but as Reynolds has explained, this is less about a complete squad overhaul and more about putting the finishing touches on Phil Parkinson’s team.

Across last season, Wrexham ended up signing 16 players, which could have seen them field a completely new starting XI and the majority of a bench if they had wished to do so.
But when speaking to Sports Illustrated recently, Reynolds seemed to hint this summer is more about plugging any potential gaps, rather than building a completely new roster.
He said: “Last year, we arrived in the Championship and had a few months to build an entire Championship roster. Phil, Michael [Williamson] and Shaun [Harvey] did a great job, and we came up just short of the playoffs.
“This is a different brief this season. Like a home renovation show… this episode is about making the kitchen work better rather than doing a whole-house renovation.”
This scaling back has become evident from the fact that Wrexham are still yet to make a signing at the time of writing.
However, they are thought to be close to securing the services of Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray.
Parkinson recently commented on the versatile defender, saying: “Danny’s a player we’ve been looking at very closely.
“It’s not done yet, but hopefully it will be.”
