As per a report by the Athletic, Newcastle United’s coaching staff have a unanimous view on where Alexander Isak fits the best in the side.
So far, the £120,000-a-week man has either started alongside Callum Wilson or as a lone striker himself in what has been a debut season marred by injuries. Unfortunately for Eddie Howe’s side, Wilson, who was ‘quiet’ according to Shay Given in the Carabao Cup final has gone off the boil since the World Cup.
As this has led to Newcastle having a hard time of converting their chances, it seems the coaching staff could perhaps solve that with Alexander Isak in mind.
Where the Newcastle coaching staff think Alexander Isak fits best
The ‘tantalising’ striker has showcased an ability to play across the frontline as well as right behind Callum Wilson, as was on display against Manchester United as he looked extremely lively upon his arrival, with Ian Wright once complimenting just how skilful he is.
The Athletic have reported that the Newcastle coaching staff collectively feel that Alexander Isak is best suited to operating in a traditional No.9 position.

Despite the Swede being one of the most versatile frontmen in Europe, they seem to think that playing centrally is where one can get the best out of him.
Problem for Callum Wilson
Considering Callum Wilson’s goals have dried up in recent weeks, this could be a warning sign about his starting place in the XI.
After all, the belief shared by the Newcastle coaching staff indicates that Alexander Isak could be earmarked as their go-to option up top rather than alongside the World Cup quarter-finalist.
However, one feels that the ex-Real Sociedad marksman, now that he is fit and looks ready to fire is perhaps a much more complete player than Wilson and should be handed the responsibility to solely lead the line.
The ‘mind-blowing’ 23-year-old did so incredibly at Euro 2020 for Sweden and he can do so in black and white as well.
