Reported Arsenal target Jesse Lingard has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he wants to stay at Manchester United, according to The Sun.

Lingard, who spent the second half of the past season on loan at West Ham United, has held a meeting with United manager Solskjaer.

The 28-year-old has told Solskjaer that he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

Blow for Arsenal

This will come as a blow for Arsenal.

The Sun reported in April that Arsenal are planning to make a move for Lingard – described by West Ham manager David Moyes as “terrific” on Sky Sports in March – in the summer transfer window.

Manager Mikel Arteta reportedly wants the England international in his team.

Arsenal are also willing to pay the attacking midfielder’s weekly salary of £110,000.

Now, Arsenal could do with an attacking player.

Martin Odegaard has returned to his parent club Real Madrid after a loan spell.

It is not clear if the Norway international attacking midfielder will be back at the Gunners.

Arsenal recently missed out on Argentine playmaker Emiliano Bendia to Aston Villa.

Lingard, who can also play as a winger, was superb for West Ham during his loan spell at London Stadium.

The United attacker scored nine goals and gave four assists in 16 Premier League matches.

However, it seems that Arsenal could miss out on Lingard.

There is also competition from West Ham for Lingard.

The Hammers reportedly want the Englishman back.

Unlike Arsenal, West Ham will play in the Europa League next season, and that could be an advantage for them if Lingard’s situation changes.
