West Ham United manager David Moyes has told Sky Sports that Jesse Lingard could have done better against Leeds United on Monday evening.

Moyes believes that Lingard, signed on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window, has been brilliant for West Ham.

However, the Hammers boss was not fully satisfied with the display from the 28-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.

Moyes told Sky Sports: “Jesse has been terrific. His all-round play has added to us. He has played well, not so well tonight because we needed the forward players, as I said earlier, to be sort of able to retain the ball better and link up better. I think we made the wrong decisions on several occasions.”

How did Jesse Lingard play against Leeds United?

Lingard has been playing well for West Ham since his loan move from West Ham and has established himself in the starting lineup.

As expected, the England international started against Leeds. Lingard won the penalty with his direct running and then took it himself, scoring after Illan Meslier had made the save.

The United-owned player was not at his best against the Whites, as he could not always put the Leeds defenders under pressure and did not make the right decisions when he had the ball.

According to WhoScored, Lingard took three shots, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 70%, took 43 touches, made one tackle and put in one cross.

So far this season, the 28-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist in six Premier League games for West Ham, according to WhoScored.
