The report has claimed that the Hammers are “very keen” on the England international midfielder, and that “a bid could likely go in for the Saints star over the summer”.
Southampton will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
Ward-Prowse has been on the books of the Saints his entire professional club career so far, but it is hard to see him stay at the club and play in the Championship.

But, there are other big clubs also keen on the 28-year-old, described as a “gifted midfielder” by former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks on BBC Sport in February 2022.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers all have been linked with the England international midfielder.
So, if the Gunners or Spurs make an offer for the 28-year-old, then it could be tough for the Hammers to compete with their London and Premier League rivals.
