West Bromwich Albion wanted to bring the Tunisian to the Hawthorns this month, according to reports.
News emanating from France today claims that the Baggies have had a loan approach for Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour rejected by the Spanish club, according to French media outlet France Football.
Another Berahino apology for Baggies fans?
The 27-year-old Tunisia international made the move to the Mestalla from Monaco in the summer of 2015, and is widely considered as one of the most consistent defenders in Europe’s top leagues.
Aymen Abdennour in action for Valencia
And France Football claim that West Brom boss Tony Pulis today made a last ditch attempt to bring the centre-back to the Hawthorns on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy in the summer, which was subsequently rejected by Los Che.
The Baggies have not had the best of luck in regards to bringing in new players over the last couple of transfer windows, and that trend looks like it will continue on until the summer.
Aymen Abdennour
Abdennour would have been a fantastic coup, if West Brom would have managed to bring him to the club, with his physical playing style being perfectly suited to playing in the English game.
