RB Leipzig have reportedly opened talks to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah on loan, with Leeds United and Tottenham also chasing the 23-year-old centre-back.
According to Bild, the Bundesliga titans have begun negotiations between the English defender and the west London side over a potential loan deal, with Chelsea open to sending Chalobah out for the season if they manage to sign a centre-back in the final week of the transfer window.
Chalobah was impressive for Chelsea last season and was one of Thomas Tuchel’s breakout stars of the campaign, yet with the defender yet to feature for his boyhood club this campaign, and the Blues working on signing Leicester City star Wesley Fofana, the 23-year-old is set to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.
Leipzig have already done business this Chelsea this summer for Timo Werner, with the striker returning to the German side on a permanent deal after two years in England, and now, Die Roten Bullen want to sign Chalobah on loan for the season, though Leeds and Tottenham are reportedly interested.
With Inter Milan also believed to be keen on signing Chalobah on loan, the race for the Chelsea defender is a fierce one, with Leipzig’s latest move arguably putting the European powerhouses in the lead for the English centre-back, who could flourish in east Germany.
The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in Europe and one where English players have found a lot of success at in recent years, and for Chalobah, signing for Leipzig could take the defender to the next level in his playing ability despite interest from the likes of Leeds, Inter and Tottenham.

Indeed, Leipzig have helped many players nurture their talents over the years and go on to become superstars in the game, and for Chalobah, the defender could be a great addition for Domenico Tedesco’s side, especially with the Bundesliga side looking to win even more silverware this season.
