According to SPORT, Tottenham have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Dodo, although the Premier League duo face competition from Barcelona.

What’s the story?

Well, it was said earlier this year that Arsenal are keen to sign the Brazilian, with Shakhtar Donetsk demanding €20m (£17m) for their right-back’s signature.

Now, SPORT believe Tottenham have joined the race, with Antonio Conte determined to find a standout option in that role after Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal largely failed to impress.

Dodo is hoping to leave Shakhtar Donetsk, despite the fact he has a contract with the Ukrainian side until June 2025.

Interestingly, Barcelona are said to view the South American as the new Dani Alves, and believe he can be the answer to their problems at right-back.

SPORT add that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also interested in the 23-year-old, although it is Fiorentina who have currently submitted the highest bid.

In 26 appearances across all competitions last season, Dodo provided four assists.

Tottenham must sell before battling Arsenal & Barcelona

In our view, Conte and Fabio Paratici need to sell one of Doherty or Emerson before bringing a new right-back to N17.

If the pair are kept, and Dodo struggles in the Premier League, then Spurs will have three underperforming right-backs in their squad, a situation that certainly wouldn’t be ideal for Tottenham.

Conte is believed to be open to offers for Emerson, who is said to be a target for Atlético Madrid, so it seems he would be more likely to leave than Doherty, who was finding some form before suffering an injury.

Whatever happens, it will be tough to fend off competition from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the battle for Dodo.

Keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
