Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have contested the signing of a number of players this summer.

The Blues and Spurs were both interested in bringing Richarlison and Raphinha to London, to name a few.

Tottenham succeeded in beating their capital rivals to Richarlison but the other Brazilian wound up joining Barcelona.

According to The Evening Standard, the Stamford Bridge outfit have been offered the chance to sign Memphis Depay from Camp Nou, the same player who the Lilywhites were leading the race to sign last month.

Depay leaving Spain is looking more and more certain with each passing day.

And Calciomercato has today reported that the former Manchester United attacker has asked for his contract with the Blaugrana to be terminated.

However, the Netherlands international wants this gesture so that he can sign for Italian giants Juventus, not Chelsea or Tottenham.

Memphis Depay to Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t made a whole lot of sense for a while.

Despite losing Steven Bergwijn, Antonio Conte has more than enough wide options at his disposal at Hotspur Way this season – Lucas Moura, Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski.

A transfer to Chelsea looked a lot more realistic but, going by this report from Italy, it does seem like the player has his heart set on Juve.

You can’t blame Depay if he isn’t keen on a return to the Premier League.

Two goals in 33 Premier League appearances during a previous stint at Manchester United illustrates that English football might not be for him and it’ll be fascinating to see how he fares in Italy, should he ultimately join the Old Lady.
