Galatasaray striker Mostafa Mohamed is set to sign for FC Nantes on loan one year after the Egyptian attacker was linked with a move to Rangers.
According to L’Equipe, Nantes will sign the 24-year-old forward for the season with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer, with Galatasaray eager to offload Mohamed just 12 months after beating Rangers to sign the talented attacker.
Incredibly labelled by Egyptian pundit Khaled El Ghandour as a striker that is similar to Ronaldo, Mohamed’s move to Turkey has been quite successful since joining Gala on a permanent deal last summer, with the striker bagging five goals in 17 appearances for the Istanbul giants.
However, with Nantes set to compete in Europe next season, the French club have targeted Mohamed as a signing to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming continental campaign, much to the dismay of Rangers, who were linked with the forward last summer.
Steven Gerrard was interested in signing the Egyptian but missed out to Galatasaray, where Mohamed had spent the previous season out on loan. However, it appears that the striker’s time in Turkey has already come to an end with Nantes now close to landing the forward.
Indeed, Rangers will be somewhat annoyed about this revelation given that the Scottish giants were keen on signing Mohamed, who now just 12 months later is heading to Nantes to compete for a UEFA Europa League side, the same competition the Bears made the final to last season.
Mohamed signing for Nantes is a great coup for Rangers’ European rivals

History dictates that Rangers are likely to embark on another Europa League campaign given their past failures in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, and the Gers could find themselves up against Mohamed and Nantes if events transpire in such a peculiar manner.
Whilst the odds still remain small on the pair meeting in Europe, Nantes themselves have landed a coup in Mohamed, who could be excellent for the French side both domestically and on the continent, much to the dismay of Rangers, who could have signed the forward last year.
