Tottenham are now set to face competition from Real Madrid in the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, although Aston Villa could benefit.
That is according to Calciomercato in Italy, who believe the $96m (£84m) man has become a target for Carlo Ancelotti as a result of his incredible displays for Napoli.
Tottenham & Real Madrid want Osimhen
Well, Napoli put a lot of faith in the Nigeria international when spending £84m on his signature back in July 2020, although he is now showing exactly why he commanded that fee.
Osimhen has scored nine goals in 13 games so far this season, while also providing three assists as Napoli sit top of Serie A and also topped Group A in the Champions League, ahead of Liverpool.
Calciomercato believe those at Real Madrid are concerned about the centre-forward position, with Karim Benzema struggling to stay fit, and a move for Osimhen is now on the agenda.
AC Milan forward Rafael Leao is another option on their shortlist.
It comes after Italian journalist Rudy Galetti claimed that Tottenham view Osimhen as the ideal replacement for Harry Kane, and are keeping a close eye on his situation.
Aston Villa could benefit from Tottenham & Real Madrid battle
Interestingly, Unai Emery could get his hands on Eden Hazard as Real Madrid set their sights on Osimhen.
It was Defensa Central who revealed that Emery wants to bring the Belgium international to Villa Park in January, and Calciomercato believe Real Madrid could sell the 31-year-old to fund a move for the Napoli No.9 in 2023.
It is said that Real Madrid have never been completely convinced by Hazard since he arrived from Chelsea in 2019, as injuries have ravaged his time in Spain – in 72 appearances, he has scored just seven goals.
