Dolev Haziza could be set to leave Israel for Rangers.

The Maccabi Haifa midfielder is reportedly a target for Steven Gerrard, who is believed to have had the player watched.

Haziza has made two appearances for the Israeli national side.

A report in Israeli outlet Sport 1 says that the player’s goal will be to move abroad and that Gerrard is already following his progress.

The 25-year-old is represented by Adam Kidan, an agent who sealed moves to Southampton for players when Ross Wilson was working St Mary’s.

Wilson is now director of football operations at Ibrox, and the connection could work in their favour with Haziza’s contract expiring in the summer of 2022.

The report describes Haziza, who was named January’s Player of the Month, as “perhaps the most significant player of Maccabi Haifa this season together with Nikita Rokavitsia.”

Gerrard’s current crop of players were underwhelming at the weekend, with Hamilton Accies holding them to a 1-1 draw at New Douglas Park.

The manager lamented his side’s display, with Record Sport quoting him as saying: “I thought that was our worst performance of the season. Individual performances today weren’t good enough.

“It’s the easy way out to say it’s a bad day at the office. We had one of them at St Mirren and that’s the reason we can’t win a League Cup. Today was worse.

Our keeper has been the busiest of both goalies and kept us in the game. He’s the reason we’re taking a point out of the game. It would have been a smash and grab from us.

“When the dust settles I’ll be quite relieved we’ve taken a point away today because I don’t think we deserved anything out of the game.

“Our performance wasn’t good enough – both sides of the game were not there today.

“We have been absolutely terrific up until this point but today we just weren’t at the races.”
