Chelsea are reportedly looking at selling Billy Gilmour this summer, with the Scottish international believed to be on Rangers’ radar five years after leaving the club’s academy to move to west London.

According to the Evening Standard, there’s a chance that the 21-year-old midfielder could be sold by Chelsea this summer, with the Blues looking at selling numerous youth players to fund moves for more senior figures in the first-team, with Armando Broja reportedly set to depart for West Ham in a £30m deal.

As well as the Albanian international, Gilmour could now be another player Chelsea wish to sell this summer, with Rangers reportedly eyeing their former academy wonderkid as Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks to add more midfield creativity to the Bears squad.

Whilst no price tag is listed yet for Gilmour, it’s expected that the Scottish international will fetch a pretty fee for Rangers, who this summer are in the money after selling both Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, the latter of which is set to leave for European giants Ajax for a club-record fee.

Indeed, Gilmour would be an ambitious signing for Rangers, but with the likes of Jurgen Klopp being huge fans of the Chelsea midfield, the Scottish giants taking advantage of the Blues selling the youngster could be a move that many supporters approve of given which direction Van Bronckhorst wants to take the club.

If Chelsea sell Gilmour, Rangers must do all they can to sign him

Rangers have some impressive signings as of late, most notably the loan signing of Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, yet should Chelsea decide to sell Gilmour, landing the 21-year-old would be just as incredible as their move for the Wales international earlier in the year.

Whilst a transfer fee might eclipse anything Rangers have ever paid for a player before, a talent like Gilmour is worth his weight in gold, and signing the Scottish talisman would be an incredible step forward for the Glasgow giants in their quest to reclaim the SPL title from rivals Celtic.
