According to FC Inter News, Inter Milan will sell Milan Škriniar for €50 million (£43 million) this summer amid interest from Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, as a result of COVID-19, Inter Milan are seriously struggling.

Despite winning Serie A, the Italian giants are in a difficult financial position, which has already cost them Antonio Conte.

Achraf Hakimi is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain too, and Škriniar is also available as Inter Milan attempt to raise some funds.

Tottenham and Nuno Espírito Santo could benefit from their struggles, as they’ve long held an interest in the 43-cap Slovakia international.

Tottenham have wanted Škriniar for years

Tottenham’s interest in the 26-year-old dates as far back as 2019.

Back then, there was talk of Spurs and Liverpool keeping tabs on the centre-back.

More recently, the north Londoners bid £30 million for Škriniar, with José Mourinho a huge fan of the Inter Milan No.37.

Tottenham’s persistence comes as no surprise.

Škriniar has been one of the best centre-backs around for a while now, and enhanced his reputation further after scoring against Poland at EURO 2020.

Sadly, he exited the tournament at the Group Stage.

It was said that Spurs came extremely close to signing the defender last summer, although Mourinho and Daniel Levy couldn’t get a deal done.

Now, Nuno could have better luck in the pursuit, seeing as Inter Milan have been crippled by financial problems.

Could this be the summer we see Škriniar move to the Premier League?

By the sounds of it, Tottenham won’t get many better chances.
