Inter Milan rejected a £30 million bid for Milan Skriniar from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and now value the Slovakian centre-back at more than £50 million, according to Calciomercato.

While invidiual errors from Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon and Eric Dier have made Spurs’ Premier League title charge a distant memory, Jose Mourinho’s ‘one that got away’ is in rather fine form.

Skriniar looked destined to leave the San Siro after a difficult first season under Antonio Conte.

But following the sale of Diego Godin, the Slovakia international has been a man reborn in recent months, belatedly adapting to Conte’s preferred three-man back line.

Skriniar has started the last 14 Serie A matches, with the Nerazzurri overhauling bitter rivals AC Milan at the top of the table.

It’s now hard to imagine Skriniar was on the transfer list just a few months ago.

According to Calciomercato, Inter wouldn’t consider selling the former Sampdoria ace for a penny less than £50 million these days.

Few at the San Siro (well, except those of a Rossoneri persuasion) are rueing their decision to reject Tottenham’s £30 million offer now.
