According to Radio Rossonera, Newcastle and Lille are not getting along too well, and a deal for Sven Botman could now collapse as a result.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Newcastle and Lille’s relationship is deteriorating, with cracks emerging following discussions over a deal for the Dutch defender.

Radio Rossonera believe the Magpies are waiting for a response from Botman, who prefers a move to AC Milan rather than a switch to Tyneside.

However, Lille would rather sell to Newcastle, as there is more money on offer from the Magpies.

In that respect, you would imagine that the two clubs would be on the same page in negotiations, although it appears patience is running thin from Newcastle’s end.

Botman is stalling, and is yet to give Newcastle a response as he waits for AC Milan to up their offer.

The update comes after some outlets claimed that Dan Ashworth was hopeful of sealing a £32m move for the 22-year-old this week.

Now, we have a feeling things are unlikely to materialise that quickly.

Newcastle must make a decision on Sven Botman

In our view, it may soon be time for Newcastle to explore other options.

Eddie Howe tried to sign the Lille No.4 in January, but failed to do so.

Now, he is again having trouble luring the centre-back to Tyneside, and seeing as Botman prefers a move to AC Milan, it may be time for Newcastle to focus on alternatives.

The Magpies have been linked with a move for Arsenal defender William Saliba, while Torino colossus Gleison Bremer is also said to be a target.

So, if Botman doesn’t make a decision soon, Newcastle should be bold and look elsewhere.

If they do not, then Howe risks losing out on his alternatives as well, which would be a nightmarish scenario.
