Newcastle United are now prepared to rekindle their interest in Torino defender Bremer amid strong interest from Arsenal.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Newcastle are ‘asking for information’ about a potential summer deal for Bremer.

Arsenal are in the same boat though, sniffing around the Brazilian in the hope of luring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

A price of around €25million (£21million) is mentioned, but that price seems ridiculously cheap for the defender.;

Torino want a bidding war but will surely start the auction at a much, much higher price.

If you cast your mind back to January, this is far from the first time Newcastle have been linked with signing Bremer.

Corriere Granata reported in January that Newcastle had offered a bid of around £25million – but Torino said no.

That’s why any notion of a £21million starting price this summer just seems absolutely ridiculous.

Bremer has been arguably the top centre back in Serie A this season.

That’s no mean feat when you consider likes of Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjaer, Kalidou Koulibaly, Matthijs de Ligt, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij all play in Italy.

Bremer has stood tall though, turning in outstanding performances for Torino on a consistent basis.

The 25-year-old has been hailed as ‘really incredible’ by Fabrizio Romano and looks primed for a huge move this summer.

One thing to note here is that Bremer is represented by the CAA Base agency – the same representation as Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle clearly have very good links to CAA Base after their January business, and that relationship could be key to their Bremer pursuit.

Add in that Arsenal already have a right-sided centre back in Ben White and a move to Newcastle may actually make more sense for Bremer.

Dan Burn is big and strong whilst Bremer can be quick and mobile next to him, potentially giving Newcastle the ideal blend at the back.
