The Hull City defender is out of contract in 2018 and could be signed by Newcastle United for a cut-price fee.
Hull City’s Harry Maguire heads at goal
Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Hull City defender Harry Maguire, according to the Sunday People (26/02 page 49).
Maguire has flourished for the Tigers in this season’s Premier League, but will be out of contract in less than 18 months’ time.
Reports last month claimed the 23-year-old is ready to turn down the Yorkshire side’s offer of an extension, making a summer move likely (The Sun).
According to reports, Maguire, who began his career at Sheffield United, is also being tracked by Everton, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, with a £15 million price tag suggested (London Evening Standard).
But a switch to Newcastle is likely to appeal should Rafa Benitez’s Magpies replace Hull in next season’s top flight.
The Yorkshireman could be the perfect long-term partner for Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles, also 23, who has seized his chance at St James’ Park this campaign.

Maguire was a teammate of Newcastle midfielders Isaac Hayden and Mohamed Diame at the KCOM Stadium last season.
