The Hull City defender has impressed this season and could be off to bigger things with both Everton and Southampton said to be keen.

Hull City’s Harry Maguire is interesting Premier League rivals Everton and Sunderland, a report on page 51 of Wednesday’s Sun newspaper claims.

Maguire has impressed for the Tigers this season but is reportedly set to snub the club’s offer of a new deal, with only 18 months left on his current one.

And, according to the Sun, the 23-year-old could leave the KCOM Stadium at the end of the campaign.

Both Everton and Southampton have been tipped to sign centre-backs this month, with Saints’ Virgil van Dijk linked with a move to Goodison Park and the Toffees’ Phil Jagielka said to be of interest to the south coast outfit, who sold Jose Fonte to West Ham United last week.

However, Maguire’s situation could convince the pair to change their plans and try to lure him now instead.

The Tigers have already sold Jake Livermore to raise funds for newly-appointed head coach Marco Silva, and the Portuguese could perhaps be tempted into an earlier sale provided he can find cheaper overseas alternatives.

Would Maguire be a good signing for Everton/Southampton?
