According to Kicker, Newcastle are now serious contenders to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby, who Arsenal also want to bring to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, this is exciting news for Newcastle supporters.

The German news outlet believe the Magpies are in a fantastic position to lure the France international to St James’ Park, following the Saudi Arabian takeover.

It spells bad news for Arsenal, however. It has been said that Mikel Arteta wants Diaby at the Emirates Stadium, as he looks to bolster his attack.

Kicker add that West Ham are also interested, while some other outlets have revealed that Liverpool are considering a move for the 22-year-old as well.

Bayer Leverkusen are said to want €50m (£43m) for their No.19, who has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign over in Germany.

In our view, that is a reasonable sum, and we have a feeling it could turn out to be a bargain in a few years.

So far this season, Diaby has scored 16 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions, while also providing 13 assists.

Arsenal must not let Newcastle have a free run at Moussa Diaby

If Diaby really is available for £43m, then Arsenal have to make an attempt to get him to north London – he has the potential to be a superstar.

The Frenchman has already amassed five caps for France, which is no easy thing to do considering the attacking talent Didier Deschamps has at his disposal.

For those of you wondering what type of player the Bundesliga gem is, an interesting comparison has been made.

According to the Bundesliga’s official website, Diaby plays a bit like Arjen Robben, as he tends to cut inside on his stronger left foot from the right flank.

If he’s even a fraction of the player Robben was, Arsenal or Newcastle could sign a potential Premier League great this summer.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen.
