The Chronicle has reported that Newcastle United are increasingly confident that Arsenal will do a deal with them regarding Joe Willock.

What’s the story?

Newcastle want to sign Willock on a permanent contract from Arsenal.

The midfielder spent the second half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at the Magpies from the Gunners.

The 21-year-old played well and was instrumental in Steve Bruce’s side escaping the dreaded drop to the Championship.

The midfielder scored eight goals in 11 Premier League starts for Newcastle.

The Magpies reportedly want to make Willock’s deal permanent, and now ‘there is increasing confidence’ that it can be done.

The report has claimed that sources feel that ‘there is a willingness on the Arsenal side to do a deal for the midfielder at the right price’.

Good news for Newcastle United fans

Willock is very popular among Newcastle fans.

After all, the youngster – described as “an amazing player” by Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin on Stadium Astro in May 2021 – was arguably the club’s best player in the second half of the season.

Newcastle fans would love to see Willock return on a permanent basis.

Now, the question is how much Arsenal would want for Willock.

A transfer fee of £20 million would make sense, perhaps £25 million at a push.
