Liverpool are the most interested side in landing Jonathan David from Lille, according to the latest update on Jeunes Footeux

Jonathan David to Liverpool?

They say that several sides are keen on landing David but it is Liverpool ‘in particular’ who are most keen.

The transfer itself would not be an inexpensive one, given that the same report claims that Lille would want over £42 million for the forward.

But he could still be an appealing addition to Liverpool’s attacking ranks.

The Reds have looked a real force going forward this term, but Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all reaching ages where long-term replacements may have to be considered.

Good signing?

David is one of the few players across Europe, who isn’t too far behind Salah in the goalscoring rankings.

He has hit the back of the net 14 times this term, compared to Salah’s 21 strikes.

David shows a great deal of potential and was hailed as a ‘phenomenon’ by his former manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck just last year.

His technical ability combined with his dribbling skill and speed make him a nightmare for opponents to mark.

And while he may not arrive at Liverpool as a permanent starter, if the Reds were to have him waiting in the wings, for when their current front three’s form slows down, it would be a scary prospect for the rest of the league.
