Italian website CalcioMercato report that Jose Mourinho is in a three-way battle to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, for AS Roma. The Arsenal ace is expected to return to the Gunners ahead of an intriguing summer.

Bellerin, 27, has been in excellent form for Betis while on loan at the La Liga club. But a permanent move remains unclear – even with Bellerin stating he wants to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side beyond the end of his loan.

The Spain international, who has clocked up 239 appearances for Arsenal over the years, has a year remaining his Emirates contract. Goal reporter Charles Watts says the Gunners are ready to cash in for £15million.

Now, new reports state that Mourinho wants him. The ex-Spurs gaffer has been linked with the likes of Granit Xhaka, while also having Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan. Now, he wants the “unbelievable” Bellerin.

Indeed, the report states that Juventus are also keeping tabs on Bellerin. Inter Milan are also interested in Bellerin, as the race hots up to land the out-of-favour Arsenal man. Mikel Arteta’s stance is currently unknown.

Roma are preparing themselves for a Europa League campaign and continue to target the Premier League for additions. Bellerin, still only 27, at £15million, is an excellent bit of business if Mourinho can get a deal done.

It is win-win for all involved. Roma get a good player, at a good age, for a good price. Arsenal get a solid fee for someone with 12 months remaining on his contract and Bellerin gets a move to a big club. Suits all parties.
