According to Roma Giallorossa, José Mourinho wants to bring Tottenham target Wilfried Zaha to Rome.

Tottenham could miss out on Zaha to Roma

Well, it was The Athletic who revealed that Spurs made a late move for the £130,000-a-week man ahead of the September 1st deadline, but their chances of signing him could now be ruined by a familiar face in Mourinho.

Roma Giallorossa believe Roma are keeping a close eye on Zaha amid doubts over the future of Stephan El Shaarawy, who sees his contract expire in July 2023.

That is when the Ivory Coast international’s terms with Crystal Palace end as well, so it seems Mourinho is planning to wave goodbye to the Italy international and sign the Ivorian on a free transfer.

Interestingly, Roma Giallorossa add that Mourinho would have made his move for Zaha over the summer, but Andrea Belotti was available and signed instead of the Crystal Palace talisman.

The Italian news outlet add that Roma have already made contact to sign the 29-year-old as he nears free agency.

The Crystal Palace No.11 has enjoyed a great start to the season, scoring four goals in seven Premier League appearances while also providing one assist.

Roma & Tottenham also face competition

Roma and Tottenham aren’t the only ones interested in signing Zaha, which doesn’t surprise us given his contract situation.

According to Ben Jacobs, Arsenal also tried to sign the Abidjan-born winger before the September 1st deadline.

The Gunners are currently sitting top of the Premier League, so if they go on to do something special this season, you would assume they’ll be favourites to sign Zaha – especially as he is known to be an Arsenal fan.

Be sure to keep an eye on Zaha’s situation going into 2023, as a big move could soon be on the horizon.
