Earlier today, Watford announced the signing of Özan Tufan on a season-long loan from Fenerbahçe, putting an end to Everton and West Brom’s chances.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Everton had actually made a bid for the 63-cap Turkey international, who appeared at EURO 2020.
Elsewhere, West Brom were believed to be keen on Tufan again, after Sam Allardyce had eyed him in January.
However, Tufan’s immediate future has now been sorted, as the Hornets have brought him to Vicarage Road on a season-long loan.
It has the potential to be a great signing.
The 26-year-old has been compared to Yaya Toure in the past, and recorded an impressive 16 goal involvements from midfield last season.
Who could Everton and West Brom turn to instead?

Tufan is a centre-midfielder who enjoys getting involved in the final third, but can also be a deep-lying option, so who could the Toffees and the Baggies get as an alternative?
In West Brom’s case, Valérien Ismaël’s side have been linked with a move for Derby’s Tom Lawrence, who can operate as a No.10.
He is one player who could offer what Tufan would’ve provided.

Elsewhere, Everton are said to be interested in Newcastle maestro Sean Longstaff, a midfielder who operates as a No.6 – which Tufan is also capable of.
With just under two weeks until the transfer window ends, it will be interesting to see if Everton or West Brom make more signings.
