West Bromwich Albion are eyeing up a deal for Derby County’s Tom Lawrence if West Ham United target Matheus Pereira leaves the club.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that the Baggies are now starting to make plans for life after Pereira.

The Brazilian ace tweeted a statement on Monday indicating that he wants to leave the Baggies this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham United are considered most likely to sign Pereira according to The Athletic, and Valerian Ismael needs to think about potential replacements.

Derby are open to offers for all of their players right now due to their dismal financial situation, and West Brom may be sending a bargain.

Capable of playing as a winger or number 10, Lawrence is a proven Championship performer and hit three goals and two assists last season.

The 27-year-old maybe wasn’t at his best last term, but West Brom may feel they can get the former Manchester United man back to his top form.

Losing Pereira would be a huge blow, but West Brom seem to be making plans early by targeting Lawrence, and that’s at least a small positive.
