Brentford will reportedly beat Tottenham and Fabio Paratici to the signing of Gremio right-back Vanderson, with a transfer seemingly close to being finalised.
90min claim that the Bees have ‘all but completed’ the signing of the 20-year-old defender. Goal reported in the summer that Brentford put up €15m (£13m) to sign the Vanderson, with Globo Esporte also reporting that Spurs were in the mix for the youngster.
However, it now looks like Brentford will win the race for the talented fullback. As per the report, Thomas Frank’s side are eager to add quality to the squad in the January window, with the west London side sat in an impressive 10th place in their maiden Premier League campaign.
The Bees have been an entertaining side to watch this season, and now it looks like Brentford will beat off Tottenham to Vanderson, who has been one of the most exciting talents in Brazil for some time.
Indeed, with Spurs signing Emerson Royal in the summer, it is likely that right-back is a position that won’t be touched until the end of this season. However, the style and system of Antonio Conte could see some changes to the role.
It speaks volumes that Brentford were able to beat Tottenham and Paratici to Vanderson. Whilst there is no real need for the Brazilian at Spurs, it is still impressive that the Bees can lure as impressive a talent as the 20-year-old to west London over one of Europe’s biggest sides.
Spurs won’t be kicking themselves with Brentford signing Vanderson

Brentford have made a name for themselves in English football for using statistics and analytics to find new signings in the market. And Vanderson appears to be the club’s latest gamble, yet it shouldn’t be something Spurs fans should be kicking themselves over.
After all, Vanderson is only just 20 and has plenty of years ahead of him to develop. And whilst right-back could be addressed by Conte and Paratici in the summer, the Italian manager could work with what he currently has in the Tottenham squad to get them a top-four finish.
