Birmingham City’s owner have reached a decision about the future of manager Steve Cotterill, according to the Sun [March 1st, page 54].

The newspaper reported on Wednesday that Blues chief Paul Suen was due to fly in for ‘crisis talks’ with Cotterill, whose side have lost four straight Championship fixtures and sit two points adrift of safety in 22nd position.

It now claims, however, that Cotterill has been given a stay of execution, with Suen said to have told players and staff they remain ‘a happy family’.

Birmingham travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday – a fixture for which the 53-year-old looks set to remain in charge.

Unpopular outcome

Garry Monk, manager of Middlesbrough looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Millwall and Middlesbrough at The Den on December 16, 2017 in London, England.

Birmingham supporters turned on Cotterill – the third Blues boss since December 2016 – after last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at home to relegation rivals Barnsley.

And several City fans have since expressed a desire to see Garry Monk – the former Middlesbrough and Leeds United boss who was linked with the post on Wednesday – replace him at St Andrew’s.
