According to Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, Aston Villa are making their move for Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker, and they’re willing to pay £10m for his services.

The Belgian midfielder has been linked with a move away from Wolves over the past 48 hours with Everton strongly interested.

The Wolves ace has also been offered to Newcastle United, but Aston Villa are now looking to jump the queue for the ‘brilliant’ international.

Dendoncker would certainly provide some more steel in the Villa midfield, and after the Villans’ poor start to the season, he could be a handy addition.

With Douglas Luiz also strongly linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool, Dendoncker could immediately plug that gap.

Dendoncker is also a very versatile footballer, and his ability to play at centre-back will surely also appeal to the Midlands club who are struggling for depth in that position after Diego Carlos’ injury and Tyrone Mings’ recent poor form.

Wolves will probably be open to a sale too. Dendoncker is quickly falling down the pecking order at Molineux, especially after the arrival of Matheus Nunes, and the fact that he was actively offered to Newcastle shows that they’re keen to offload this player.

Dendoncker does have a lot of talent. Back in Belgium, he was one of the best players in the Pro League before his move to Villa, and if he can rediscover that form, £10m will be something of a snip.

However, his confidence is surely low after an underwhelming spell at Wolves, and he hasn’t really adapted to Premier League football since his arrival, so there is also an element of risk attached to this one – but at £10m if this one goes wrong it can’t be considered a shocking signing by any stretch of the imagination.
