Newcastle have been offered Leander Dendoncker amid claims that a late move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Everton has now collapsed.
The Magpies have enjoyed a productive window even if they haven’t been throwing money around as many anticipated.
Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak have arrived whilst a permanent deal for Matt Targett has been struck.
Newcastle may not be too busy on deadline day unless a great opportunity arrives, and one Premier League midfielder appears to have been offered to Eddie Howe.
Newcastle have been offered Leander Dendoncker
The Athletic report that Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Leander Dendoncker has been floated to Newcastle ahead of tonight’s deadline.
Newcastle have seen Bruno Guimaraes suffer an injury and they may have been seeking a holding midfielder anyway.
Bruno is better when given the chance to go forward, so a defensively-minded anchor man behind him and Joelinton could make sense moving forward.
Dendoncker would fit that bill for Newcastle but the ball is now in their court as they consider whether or not to make a move.
The Daily Mail add that Everton have been chasing Dendoncker but a deal with the Toffees has now collapsed.
Dendoncker allegedly still wants to leave Wolves, but with a move to Everton off the cards, he may be relying on Newcastle to make a bid.
The Belgian has racked up more than 150 appearances for Wolves having arrived from Anderlecht back in 2018.
Now 27, Dendoncker is a proven Premier League player and has been hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Wolves teammate Max Kilman.
Dendoncker’s Wolves deal ends next summer but the Molineux club do have an option to extend that contract by another year.
It’s now over to Newcastle; they have been so calculated with their recruitment and have only made moves for players they are sure about.
Dendoncker has been put to Newcastle rather than the Magpies going all-in for him, so Howe and Dan Ashworth now face a big decision on deadline day.
