Arsenal signing Victor Osimhen is beginning to look rather doubtful.
Back in May, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Arsenal were leading the race to sign the Napoli marksman.
However, Calciomercato reported on Friday that the Gunners had actually withdrawn their interest in the player.
And that, according to La Repubblica, is because the North Londoners are only willing to offer £51 million for the red-hot hitman who ‘better than Dusan Vlahovic‘, according to one Italian football pundit.
Problem is, that’s absolutely miles from the Serie A club’s valuation, which is said to be around £95 million.
You have to say, that isn’t entirely reasonable from Arsenal, if we’re honest.
There’s a disparity of more than £40 million and Mikel Arteta and Edu will have to make much more of an effort if they’re serious about the player – and they should be.
Remember, Arsenal need number nines this summer.
Alexandre Lacazette has left the club and even if Eddie Nketiah signs a new contract, is he going to be prolific enough from August to May next season and beyond?
The 22-year-old certainly did the business for the Gunners toward the end of last season, but he isn’t proven over the course of a whole campaign.
There’s a reason why the Nigeria international is valued at nearly £100 million and it’s because he can score goals season-round and if it isn’t Arsenal signing Victor Osimhen, another club will be very grateful for it.
