Arsenal are interested in signing Adrien Rabiot from Juventus, according to TuttoMercatoWeb

Rabiot to Arsenal?

Rabiot has often found himself being substituted when playing for Juventus this season, which has sparked doubts over his future.

The French international only has 18 months left on his contract with Juve, and Arsenal are reportedly looking to take advantage in January.

Now, this transfer would be one which would go away from what Edu and Mikel Arteta have typically targeted in recent years.

Rabiot is in the prime of his career and is already proven at the top level.

Arsenal typically like to sign young players with high potential, but Rabiot doesn’t really fit that category.

That being said, at the age of 26, he still has plenty of time left in his career.

Good signing?

Arsenal could benefit from the injection of quality in their midfield too.

The Gunners haven’t always looked the most convincing in the middle of the pitch.

Granit Xhaka continues to play a key role when fit, but Thomas Partey has only rated his performances a 4/10 this season, while Albert Sambi Lokonga is still learning.

Rabiot would almost certainly add something to Arsenal’s starting line-up.

Indeed, if Arsenal need an endorsement of the potential signing they only need to look at Barcelona legend, Xavi’s words from 2018.

He said that Rabiot would actually be the perfect addition at the Camp Nou.

“He’s a player of an excellent level technically,” Xavi said to Mundo Deportivo.

“He could play perfectly as a central midfielder at Barca. He could contribute a lot, but that’s already entering the realms of speculation.”

But the question mark would surely be over his wages.

Rabiot is on almost £200,000-a-week at Juventus currently, and Arsenal while Arsenal would be able to afford that sort of salary, it would place him among their top earners.
