Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now facing competition from Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea for Juventus central midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to Calciomercato.it.
What’s the story?
Calciomercato.it are reporting that Chelsea are seriously considering making a move for Rabiot in the January transfer window.
The defending European champions are planning to send on-loan Saul back to Atletico Madrid.
Saul would be replaced in the team by 26-year-old Rabiot.
That’s Chelsea’s plan, according to the report, which has also mentioned Newcastle’s interest in the former Paris Saint-Germain star.
Calciomercato reported last month interest from Newcastle in Rabiot, Described as “a complete player” by Juventus and Italy legend Andrea Pirlo in Goal in November 2020.
Blow for Newcastle United
In our view, Chelsea’s interest in Rabiot is a blow for Newcastle.
The Magpies may now have the wealthiest owners in club football, but they are struggling on the pitch.

Eddie Howe’s side are in real danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
On the other hand, Chelsea are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.
Oh, Tuchel’s team also won the Champions League last season and are aiming to win it yet again this campaign.
