Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign Wolves attacker Pedro Neto, with the Gunners making the Portuguese youngster their main priority as a replacement for Nicolas Pepe.

According to the Athletic, Arsenal have been in discussions with the player and his agent, Jorge Mendes, for well over a month. However, whilst interest from the north London side is concrete, Wolves have no intention of letting the winger leaving Molineux this summer.

With reports this summer suggesting that Neto could cost as much as £50m, Arsenal could have to cough up a hefty fee to sign the 22-year-old this summer, who this season has played every minute of Premier League football for Wolves under Bruno Lage, who has seemingly got the best out of the attacker so far.

Able to play across the attacking front three with Neto accomplished both out on the right and the left, the former Lazio star is perfect for what Arsenal are looking for this summer when it comes to a wide-attacking option, with the north London side having just three senior wingers in their squad.

Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe are Mikel Arteta’s main left-wing options whilst Bukayo Saka is now the Gunner’s only player out on the right, with Pepe set to join OGC Nice on loan and Reiss Nelson out for the next few months due to injury.

Indeed, with UEFA Europa League football on the horizon and the new Premier League five-substitution rule now in place, Neto could become an invaluable squad member should Arsenal sign the Portuguese youngster, though it could take some financial effort for the Gunners to land the Wolves star this summer.

Labelled by Tim Sherwood as an ‘outstanding’ talent, Neto is perfect for what Arsenal need as a final signing this summer, yet given Wolves’ position on the versatile forward, the north London side could have to match of even exceed the reported £50m asking price for the 22-year-old.

After all, Neto has being a regular for Wolves this season and continues to improve each year with the West Midlands side, and for Arsenal, they could face a huge battle this summer to land the winger with so little time of the transfer window remaining.
