According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham have now entered the race to sign Barcelona glovesman Neto, who Arsenal are interested in.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spanish news outlet believe the north Londoners are fighting it out to sign the Brazilian, who wants to leave the Camp Nou.

Neto wants first-team football and guaranteed playing time, which he doesn’t get under Ronald Koeman thanks to Marc-André ter Stegen.

Mundo Deportivo believe Arsenal are ready to go all out to sign the 32-year-old, who they also tried to sign in January.

However, Tottenham – with the ageing Hugo Lloris as their No.1 – have now entered the race, which throws a spanner in the works for the Gunners.

However, Mikel Arteta sounds like he has the upper hand.

Forget Tottenham, Neto wants Arsenal

An earlier report from Mundo Deportivo claimed that Neto is desperate to join Arsenal, as he looks to end his nightmare in Barcelona.

The Spanish giants paid £23.1m to sign him from Valencia, but he’s only made 17 appearances in two years.

It was a very strange signing from Barcelona in the first place, especially as Ter Stegen is among Europe’s best.

In our view, it’s also quite strange to see Arsenal and Tottenham fighting over Neto.

Yes, Lloris needs replacing, but Tottenham are apparently close to signing Pierluigi Gollini to solve that problem, so why do they need Neto?

In Arsenal’s case, Arteta has Bernd Leno as his No.1, so it would be foolish to spend a significant amount on another goalkeeper.

Only time will tell what happens, but it’s a strange transfer saga all round, this one.
