According to SPORT, Barcelona glovesman Neto has submitted a transfer request, just days after being linked with a move to Arsenal.
The Spanish news outlet say that the 31-year-old wants more game time, and is tired of being stuck behind Germany international Marc-André ter Stegen.
SPORT add that the Brazil international has asked Barcelona to lower their asking price for his services, in order to help him get a move away.
It is also mentioned that Barcelona are considering his request, and have not immediately rejected his desire to leave.
Interestingly, SPORT‘s news comes just a matter of days after Neto was linked with a move to Arsenal.
As reported by Dharmesh Sheth on the Transfer Talk on Sky Sports (13/01/21 at 5:05 pm), the Gunners are eyeing the goalkeeper as they look to replace Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson.
Neto – who ESPN say has a €200 million (£177 million) release clause in his contract at the Camp Nou – would provide Arsenal with a far more experienced deputy to Bernd Leno.
However, seeing as he is presumably unlikely to oust the German as Arsenal’s No.1, the north Londoners must be careful not to overspend on the South American.
Interestingly, Neto’s agent is Kia Joorabchian, according to the Daily Mail.
He has close ties to Arsenal, and also represents David Luiz as well as Cedric Soares.
