West Ham target Tete is now being monitored by AC Milan as they line up alternatives to Hakim Ziyech, who is wanted by Tottenham.

That is according to Calciomercato, who believe the £25m-rated winger has emerged as a target for the Italian giants, if they are unable to sign Ziyech from Chelsea.

Tottenham gain could be West Ham loss

Well, those at the London Stadium will hope that Spurs do miss out on Ziyech to AC Milan, as it would mean a fierce competitor for Tete is no longer in the race for his signature.

Calciomercato believe Shakhtar Donetsk are open to selling the Brazilian this winter, as he struggles for game time during his loan spell at Lyon, and his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

If the Ukrainian giants fail to offload the South American in January, they will lose him for nothing in the summer.

West Ham’s interest is mentioned in the story from Calciomercato, while it was Dutch news outlet Algemeen Dagblad who stated that Antonio Conte would like to have Ziyech in north London.

The Morocco international is out of favour at Stamford Bridge, making just one start in the Premier League so far this season, so an exit from west London seems quite likely.

West Ham should risk waiting for Tete

In our view, West Ham should not get involved in the race for Tete if his price tag remains at £25m.

That is a significant amount to pay for a player currently not in the starting XI at Lyon, as well as one who will be a free agent in just a matter of months.

We understand that David Moyes may want a January arrival to help turn West Ham’s season around, although there are surely other options that make more sense for the east Londoners this winter.
