According to The Times, Duncan Ferguson is set to take the Forest Green Rovers job.
This comes after he was linked to the manager’s position at Everton, where he has been the caretaker, to relative success, on a number of occasions.
Ferguson, a club legend, had been tipped for the Everton job by former Toffees manager Sam Allardyce, but he has decided to drop down to League One with Forest Green Rovers instead.
This will be Ferguson’s first full-time managerial job, and it will be an exciting opportunity for him to prove his worth in management, and who knows? Perhaps one day he will be in that Everton dugout.

It’s something of a shame that the Scot won’t be managing Everton. Ferguson would certainly bring a passion back to the club, and his experience as a player and a caretaker manager would be incredibly valuable for a club that has lost its identity in recent months.
However, it seems that Ferguson has chosen to take on a different challenge, one that would give him the opportunity to build a team from the ground up and make his mark as a manager at the lower levels.
Forest Green Rovers are currently in bottom of League One and Ferguson is certainly jumping in at the deep end here.
However, Ferguson’s appointment at Forest Green could be a turning point for the club. His passion and leadership skills will invaluable for a club that is struggling massively at this moment in time
It’s a new, unexpected, chapter for Ferguson, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to life as a full-time manager. He’s been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time, and while he’s not quite landed his dream job at Everton, this is a starting point that could help him progress within the game very quickly.
Everton fans may certainly have a vested interest in Forest Green going forwards.
