Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing the vacant Everton manager position and Duncan Ferguson.

Allardyce was reminiscing on his own time at Goodison Park, and he was saying how he’s always stayed in touch with Big Dunc despite the fact his time with the Toffees was cut short.

Of course, when Allardyce brought Ferguson’s name up, he was asked if the Scot would be an option as the next manager, and Allardyce said firmly that Ferguson could definitely be a contender for the job.

Allardyce says Ferguson could do the job

The ex-Bolton boss spoke about Ferguson and Everton.

“I still speak to Big Dunc and he’s Everton through and through,” Allarydce was saying.

“Do you think he could do it? Would he?” Allardyce was asked.

“Of course he could do it. He’s tried for so long to be given that opportunity because he was the caretaker for that long. He got fed up of it and tried to find a new career somewhere else. I’ll be out with him and Sammy Lee soon for some lunch,” Allardyce concluded.

Could do a lot worse

Ferguson is always going to be linked with this job due to his history with the club, but this time around, Everton may want to actually go for him.

The Merseyside club are in a dire situation right now, and while they may turn to a tactician like Marcelo Bielsa or Carlos Corberan, none of that will work unless the players are enthused.

Make no mistake about it, Ferguson would bring the passion back to that Everton dressing room, and that’s precisely what they need right now.

Everton could do a lot worse than going out and getting Ferguson as their new manager.
