According to le10sport, Aston Villa could now lose out to PSG as they aim to replace Steven Gerrard with Ruben Amorim.

Well, the French news outlet believe the Parisians are already eyeing a replacement for Christophe Galtier, who was hired to succeed Mauricio Pochettino as recently as July.

Le Parisien believe the 56-year-old would leave the Parc des Princes if Kylian Mbappe departs, following talk of the France international wanting out of PSG.

It comes at an awful time for Aston Villa, as it means they could now miss out on Amorim – who the Daily Mail believe is their No.1 target to replace Gerrard.

The Athletic have even claimed that Aston Villa are in talks with Amorim.

Le10sport believe the 37-year-old is willing to listen to offers from those keen to lure him away from Sporting Lisbon, although his €30m (£26m) release clause will need to be activated, according to the Mirror.

Amorim is clearly a coach held in high regard by Europe’s elite, as Chelsea also spoke to him before deciding to appoint Graham Potter as a replacement for Thomas Tuchel – that was according to Sky Sports.

After all, his record speaks for itself.

Amorim has amazingly won 97 of his 137 games in management, while he also guided Sporting Lisbon to their first league title in 19 years last season.

One benefit Aston Villa do have in this situation is the fact they have already sacked their manager, whereas PSG and Galtier are yet to part ways.

If that does happen while the Villans are also managerless, it would presumably be very difficult to fend off the French giants given their financial power.

However, Aston Villa have time on their side.

If they can move quickly before anything happens between PSG and Galtier, the Villans may have a chance of appointing the highly rated Portuguese tactician.
