Manchester United and Tottenham have been dealt a transfer blow after Martin Terrier suffered a serious injury.

What’s the story?

Well, both the Red Devils and Spurs find themselves in negotiations with Rennes over a deal for the 25-year-old, according to Media Foot in France.

However, those talks are likely to be shelved now, after Terrier suffered damage to cruciate ligaments and the meniscus in his right knee.

The Manchester United and Tottenham target is facing eight months on the sidelines – according to L’Equipe.

Terrier suffered the injury during a 2-1 win over OGC Nice on New Year’s Day.

Just moments after opening the scoring, the Rennes No.7 was stretchered off in the 36th minute.

It was a nightmarish way for Terrier to start 2023 after such a strong 202223 campaign so far – in 22 appearances this term, he has scored 12 goals while also providing five assists.

The Frenchman is now likely to miss the start of the 2023/24 season as well, with his serious knee injury set to rule him out for the entirety of pre-season unless he makes incredible progress in his recovery.

Manchester United & Tottenham have alternatives to Terrier

Ten Hag and Conte will undoubtedly be disappointed to hear what has happened to Terrier.

However, in regards to finding an alternative to the French attacker, both sides have options in the market.

According to ESPN, Manchester United are keen to sign Goncalo Ramos this month, after the Benfica No.88 put his name up in lights with a hattrick for Portugal at the World Cup.

In Tottenham’s case, Conte is also considering a move to sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona – according to Estadio Deportivo in Spain.

Keep an eye on both Manchester United and Tottenham this month, as we expect them to make at least one new signing each.
