French outlet Media Foot report that Tottenham and Manchester United have opened talks to sign Rennes attacker Martin Terrier ahead of January – after an 18-month spell of form that almost saw him called up for the World Cup.
Terrier, 25, was struggling to prove himself as more than a good striker in Ligue 1 – going into the 21-22 season. But after 21 goals and seven assists last season, and 15 goal involvements in 20 games this term, he is in red-hot form.
So much so, Henry has been recently quoted as suggesting he should have been in Didier Deschamps’ France squad in Qatar: “Is it deserved? I would prefer to say that, if he does get selected, it won’t be undeserved. I like this player a lot.”
His form is attracting interest from the Premier League, too. Indeed, Media Foot now claim that Tottenham and United have opened talks with his representatives. They have asked about a potential fee, wage demands and if he is keen.

Rated at £34million in the summer, that value is only likely to have increased in recent months. His form has continued this season, if not improving. A goal and an assist in 75% of the matches he plays – for a side that sit in third place.
Currently a teammate of Joe Rodon, Terrier is one of the best attacking stars in French football. Tottenham need cover for Harry Kane and Manchester United would surely like to replace the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo. The need is obvious.
Terrier will surely be tempted by a move to either Premier League side. The issue is, is that he has a contract at Rennes until 2026. The French club are under no pressure to sell. It might be that a deal will have to wait until the summer.
