Back in 2021, Arsenal and Tottenham were both interested in bringing Gianluigi Donnarumma to the Premier League.
The Italy international shone at EURO 2020, winning the Player of the Tournament award as the Italians lifted the trophy.
Eventually, Donnarumma joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he was handed a contract worth £213,000-a-week.
Now, he’s done something which will make Arsenal and Tottenham regret not signing him even more.
What’s the story?
Well, Donnarumma was named Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Season, beating the likes of Walter Benitez, Matz Sels and Alexander Nubel to the prize.
It comes after the 23-year-old also won the Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, the award for best goalkeeper in Europe.

Clearly, the PSG glovesman is a fine goalkeeper, who – at the age of just 23 – has a seriously bright future in store.
With 42 caps for Italy already under his belt, as well as 274 first-team appearances, Donnarumma could quite feasibly become the greatest goalkeeper of all time.
Arsenal sorted, but Tottenham still in need
He’s hardly on Donnarumma’s level, although Arsenal fixed their issues in between the sticks by signing Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United in 2021.
However, Tottenham still need to find a new glovesman.
Pierluigi Gollini was signed on a season-long loan to compete with Hugo Lloris, although the Italian is set to return to Atalanta after finding opportunities hard to come by.

Lloris himself is also 35 years of age, so a replacement will have to be found soon.
One man who could arrive is West Brom’s Sam Johnstone, who Spurs believe they’ll beat Everton to.
Keep an eye on that situation, as we believe it’s quite likely that Tottenham sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
