Speaking on BT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League Round of 16 draw, Owen Hargreaves has been discussing reported Arsenal target Jonathan David after Chelsea drew Lille.

Chelsea and Lille were seemingly destined to play against each other at this stage. The French outfit drew the Blues in both the first draw and the redraw.

The Ligue 1 champions certainly have a number of players who could cause Chelsea a number of problems, and David is one of the players the Stamford Bridge outfit will have to be wary of.

What’s been said about David?

Hargreaves had nothing but good things to say about David.

“He’s a really good player, he’s only 21 years old, but he’s a goalscorer, he’s a proper goalscorer. Good with both feet. This guy is going to get a big move at some point,” Hargreaves said.

“This guy is kind of the star of the show, a good finisher and he’ll be a big threat as Chelsea have been leaking goals as of late.”

Exactly what Arsenal need

Arsenal could certainly do with a player of this calibre.

The Gunners are reportedly very keen on David, and with Hargreaves saying he’s a natural goalscorer, it sounds as though he’d be a great fit at the Emirates.

Arsenal have their problems up front right now. Alexandre Lacazette’s contract is up in the summer, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just missed Arsenal’s game over the weekend due to a disciplinary breach.

The London club need a new striker, and if Hargreaves’ view on David is accurate, the Canadian could be a great signing.
