Rangers are said to be interested in signing Lyndon Dykes – a player who Ally McCoist rates very highly.
What’s the story?
Well, Michael Beale is keen to bring the 27-year-old to Ibrox as he aims to bolster his attacking options.
That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who told Give Me Sport that Rangers are hoping to sign the Scotland international in the January transfer window as they look to make up a nine-point gap on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
However, it will be a difficult move to complete, as Jones believe QPR have no intention of selling their No.9 in the middle of the season.
So far in the 2022/23 campaign, Dykes has scored six goals in 23 Championship appearances.
If Beale does manage to lure the Gold Coast-born striker back to Scotland, then the deal would seemingly come with the approval of Ibrox hero McCoist.

While Dykes was impressing at Livingston, the 60-year-old urged Rangers to pay the money to sign him, while also waxing lyrical about the striker’s ability.
Speaking to The Herald, McCoist said: “I’ve been saying for about a year that I would have gone and paid the money for Lyndon Dykes. I think the big fella gives you something different. He’s strong, he’s aggressive, he’s quick and he’s scored goals against both Rangers and Celtic.
“I’ve never seen anyone recently give the Celtic defence problems the way he has.”
Rangers need Dykes
In our view, Beale definitely needs more firepower up top, and Dykes would provide that.
Alfredo Morelos has only scored four goals so far this season, with Antonio Colak the only player to hit double figures as he sits on 11 goals.
Rangers are currently lacking a proper No.9 and talisman to lead them from the front, and if a legend such as McCoist thinks Dykes would thrive at Ibrox, Beale must do all he can to agree a deal with QPR.
